In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix well with your hands.

Roll the mixture into 1-inch meatballs.

In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more.

Pour in crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, sugar, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and gently add the meatballs.

Cover and simmer for 30-45 minutes, or until meatballs are cooked through, stirring occasionally.

While the sauce is simmering, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add spaghetti and cook according to package directions until al dente.

Drain the spaghetti and add it to the pot with the sauce and meatballs. Toss to coat.
